I am in the market for an edible inkjet printer. I have no idea what brand to purchase. Does anyone have any feedback on which printers have the best quality?

Thank you!

I am so frustrated with my Epson nx 510. I spend half my money and time getting it to run properly. I am wondering if maybe it might be the program. I am currently using the one that you can download for free on KopyKake.

Many Thanks,

Loving my canon ip3600!

I just bought a Canon ip3600. I bought my cartridges from Icing Images. I'm having a problem with the yellow not printing. All of the other colors are printing fine. Each day I am having to run it through a cleaning cycle to get the yellow to work. Do you think maybe it's a defective cartridge or any other ideas of what the problem could be? The other colors are working beautifully.

DO NOT GET AN EPSON!!!!! Maybe the are good if you use them everyday but they clog very easily and are impossible to clean. I plan to get a Canon ip3600.

tiggy2 Posted 20 Apr 2011 , 11:33pm

I have a canon MP560 and love it but I'm also having problems with the yellow from icingimages. Have you contacted them Price?

Price Posted 21 Apr 2011 , 12:24am

I did contact them right after I got the printer. The first day all colors printed perfectly. The next day all were good but the yellow. It was coming out peach instead of yellow. The lady I spoke with was very nice. She wasn't sure what was causing the problem, but suggested I do a cleaning. (at this point I hadn't even printed an edible image, I had only printed the day before to test it). I did the cleaning and did a couple of nozzle checks and it printed yellow again. I thought ah, at last it is fixed. Next day no yellow at all. I don't get it! I haven't had a chance to call them again. I got it printing yellow again today. I'll see what it does tomorrow. I'm leaning toward bad cartridge. It's a brand new printer!

After reading all the posts (which probably isn't such a good idea half the time cause now i want to purchase a printer as wellicon_wink.gif i can't decide what to buy either. I have always had either a Canon printer or HP printer and they have always been reliable as regular printers but can't decide which to buy for edible image printing. I found a Canon Pixma IP2700 on amazon.ca for $39 with free shipping but not sure if i should buy it? I have the canon MP1500 for regular use but it's so bulky. I have read the other post in regards to printers but they all say to buy IP3700 which isn't available. So maybe i will go for the IP2700 and see what happens...

Oops, meant to write IP3600.

At that price, how can you go wrong?

cakeRocket Posted 28 Apr 2011 , 8:40pm

Ok, so wen to WalMart last night and found the Canon MP520 on sale for $40! Doesn't require online shopping or waiting for it to get shipped...does anyone have this printer and know if it's any good?

Price... Call is so we can see what is going on. Make sure your silver label, that is above the gold label is pealed off.

cakerocket..the mp520? Are you sure? that is an older model printer. Good, but older. Stay away from HP, dont even know if you can get edible cartrdiges as the FDA cracked down on them as they were made from refurbished ink cartridges.

My advice, Canon all the way. Either the Canon mp560 or the canon ip3600. Both excellent choices.

I am very happy with my canon from Icing Images, the people at Icing Images have given me great customer service and the printer only gave me trouble once - I do not use it regularly enough and the printhead dried out/got ink stuck in it I used a shark steamer (strong jet of steam to clean it out as a last ditch effort) and it has worked like a charm since.

CakeDiva101 Posted 29 Apr 2011 , 5:17am

Are you telling me I can just buy a regular printer and swap the cartridges with edible ink ones?

motherofgrace Posted 29 Apr 2011 , 5:43am

I have a canon NX15 (i think) And love it!

laje14 Posted 29 Apr 2011 , 5:50am

I have a Canon IP3600. It has not worked right from the time I took it out of the box. The ink came out really bad with lines on my images and the black would not come out at all. I ran the printer cleaning several times and steamed the print head 4 times just to get it to print a few pages. I am not happy with it. I wonder if it is the ink. Has anyone else had problems with KopyKake ink?

Price Posted 2 May 2011 , 1:04am

Debbie, Thanks, the yellow now seems to be working ok. It's no longer printing as peach. After I got the peach color cleared up, some days it would print yellow and some days it wouldn't print a color at all. I finally removed the cartridge, held it over a sheet of paper and gently squeezed it. I then made sure to wipe off any excess ink that had come out and reinstalled the cartridge. So far it has been printing yellow every time I print and I haven't had any more problems. If it starts again I'll give you a call so that we can try to figure out the problem.

BlueMoon73 Posted 2 May 2011 , 1:22am

I also bought the Canon ip3600, love it! Have not had any problems at all!

FH_Cakes Posted 2 May 2011 , 6:13am

Canon ip3600 here too. I purchased @ staples with coupon for $50.

Price Posted 2 May 2011 , 11:39pm

I just printed an image tonight. It came out so crisp and clear I couldn't believe it. I'm very happy icon_smile.gif

tiggy2 Posted 2 May 2011 , 11:51pm

I'm having the same problem you were Price, how did you solve it?

Price Posted 3 May 2011 , 12:45am

tiggy2, What I finally did was very carefully took the yellow cartridge out of the printer. Be careful not to squeeze it when taking it out. Then I just put a piece of printer paper under the cartridge and squeezed it on the sides gently until some ink came out. I wiped all of the excess ink off and put the cartridge back in the printer. So far so good. I'm hoping it continues. I don't know why that worked. Maybe the cartridge had a little air pocket? Just a guess. It was really strange that first it was coming out peach colored and then turned yellow but would sometimes print and sometimes wouldn't.

Is your problem with the yellow cartridge too? --- strange icon_confused.gif

tiggy2 Posted 3 May 2011 , 1:01am

I'm actually having problems with the red now. I'll try squeezing and see what happens, thanks.

cakeRocket Posted 3 May 2011 , 2:58am

I cannot find the ip3600 anywhere around here. Must be the Canadian Curse! I can however find the MP560 for $80 and the ip2700 for $60 (and the MP520 for $40 at WalMart)...all these models make me confused! So...i guess i will try my luck with the MP520 (the price says it all for me). That way if it turns out really crappy i won't be too upset with loosing $40!
