I would like to know what size wire to use to hang fondant balls from on a cake I would like to make? I see them on all kinds of cakes but I can't seem to find out what gauge wire to use for them

It depends on the size of the fondant balls. Use whatever gauge will support the weight of them. The one I did with some golf ball sized balls, I ended up using 18 gauge wire.

You probably already know, but just in case...it's not safe to poke the wires directly into the cake. Use a coffee stir or a straw trimmed to the height of your tier, and stick the wires into that icon_biggrin.gif

Thank you for the answer. I did not know that about the wire I am very new to this cake thing and I would not have known I would have stuck the wire right in the cake. So if my balls are on the small side 20 or 22 gauge should work then?
