Hi everyone,

I am making a cross christening cake for my sister this weekend, and just realised that my cake decorating shop doesn't carry the Wilton cross tin. That's not too big an issue, as I figure a cross is one of the easier shapes to assemble from either a sheet or a couple of loaf cakes, but I was wondering if anyone HAS construted a cross without a specific cross shaped tin, and what you found were the best dimensions for it?

Cheers,

Hi Kate, I made a cross cake once. I used a 12"x9" tin, and it was about 3" high. icon_smile.gif

There is a template for cutting a cross from a sheet cake. Uploaded by juleebug

and here is another cross cake template --- that only requires two cuts and works with all sizes of sheet cakes. Juleebug even links to it too.
