Help! A friend has volunteered her and I to make a wedding cake for a friend of hers this coming weekend. She had ordered some gumpaste filler flowers (hydrangeas, but they can be any small white flower) from a local cake store two weeks ago and just found out they haven't even shipped yet. It seems to cost about $30 for overnight shipping from anywhere online which means she would end up losing money. Any suggestions on how to get gumpaste flowers in two days or to learn how to make them that quickly? Thanks. icon_cry.gif

I would be calling around local or not-so local cake decorating and hobby stores to see what they have in stock. Check the yellow pages. Making them yourselves sounds a bit stressful if you have to do the cake as well...

Good luck!

What about just using some silk filler flowers from Michaels or hobby lobby? They wouldn't be eating the gumpaste ones anyway and if they are just fillers you probably won't even notice.

Thanks for the suggestions. We have been calling around, but so far no luck. The silk flowers might be an option though....

Honestly, its not really hard to learn how to make flowers when you have a clear step by step instruction. You can easily learn in a day... although it is really time consuming. Check out Edna's video on youtube and she has a great tutorial on how to make roses. There are other flower tutorials on youtube as well.
