I am going to do a sheet cake with Bob, the monster from Monsters VS Aliens. For those of you who have seen him, you know he is a big blue blob. I was thinking about using piping gel to make him shiny. Do I just frost the cake with buttercream all over, and then tint my piping gel blue and pipe it on into the shape of Bob using a piping bag? I have never worked with piping gel before. Any hints are appreciated!

I would tint your buttercream blue and ice him...then apply blue tinted piping gel. That way he will look completely blue. Are you making a 3d version of him or a flat one. ????

I am just going to do a 9x13. I wanted to do a 3D version, but that was out of the budget for my friend.
