I'm "researching" on how to make a hangbag cake. There are many to look at, and i am wondering: For the handle to loop in the air and not sit on the bag itself, do you run a wire through the fondant handle, bend it, and then let it dry on it's side? Also, do you leave extra wire on each end to stick into the cake? How do the handles hold up so well and not bend over?

Make them out of gum paste or a 50/50 mix of gum paste/fondant. Shape them and let them dry completely before attaching to the cake. Make extras as they are fragle and may break on you.
