I'm attempting to make my first pillow cake this weekend. I've looked at the article on CC and got LOTS of ideas. My problem is that I want this pillow to look like the standard rectangular pillow with a white pillow case that we sleep with. Does anyone see any problems with using a rectangular shape rather than an 8x8 pan to begin with? OR should I use a 10x10 square pan and just carve it to be "oblong"? Any suggestions would be great!
Thanks!

I used a rectangular shape pan. You can look in my photos at the Princess Gracie cake. It worked just fine. I actually found it easier to carve and cover in fondant.

Thanks! Misdawn, that looks nice and you can tell it's oblong.

No problem! Post pics of your cake when it's done! I'd love to see it.
