Can you use extract flavoring in frosting? I have some coconut extract I am thinking of adding to the frosting, just replacing the water or butter flavor.

TIA

Sure just replace the butter flavor with it. Extracts are stonger so dont use too much

I do that all the time. I like to customize my frosting flavor to go with the cake flavor or customer's preferences. I almost always add coconut flavoring when I'm making a German Chocolate cake and not using the traditional coconut pecan frosting. I usually replace half the vanilla flavoring with the other flavoring when it will complement, or completely replace it if it won't.
