How can I achieve the look of foil(as in a gum wrapper) on the sides of a rectangular cake. I'm making a Trident Bubblegum Cake and I want the sides to look like the silver on the gum package. Can I do it on buttercream or make the sides fondant? What products will give me that highly metallic finish?

Well..fondant will definetly give you a better silver...and airbrushing would be better than painted lustre dust. You can sort of paint BC but it has to be really crusty.
