I was asked to make a finger food dessert for kids who will be watching the movie HOLES after just having finished reading the book. I haven't seen/read it and nothing really popped out at me when I read the review on it. Does anyone have any ideas of a cupcake idea based on something from the story?

Thanks!

That's a tough one. How about little shovels.

Or maybe some gold coins or a treasure chest.

WOW!!! So many ideas!!!!!! you could do the lizards that are in the movie, or the peaches, the lipstick tube that the kids found, sneakers (that started the whole movie). Or how about if you cover the cupcakes icing in "sand" (crushed vanilla wafers or graham crackers) and push a hole in the center then make a little shovel. Can you tell how much I liked this movie!!! :0

Did they use peaches in the movie? It was onions in the book. Or am I forgetting something?

I like the little shovels idea!

Thanks for the great ideas...I am tossing them around in my head...how would you go about making a shovel to put in the cupcakes?

Thanks again!

The teacher canned peaches, and gave them to (oh sorry, I cant seem to remember his name) The guy that fixed her school house, and that she was in love with and got killed.

You can use grey fondant and cut out with a heart shaped cutter and attach it to a lollipop stick. You can fold the heart a little so it makes a C shape and insert the lollipop stick in th top.

ops, I thought of a better idea for the shovel. Use a thin stick pretzel.
