I'm making a baby onsie cake and I want to paint the snaps with silver luster dust. I have only ever done this on dry royal icing ... can I do it on buttercream? I don't want to make more icing .... I am tired! Any other ideas?

I just painted vodka/luster dust on my confirmation cake. I use a crusting buttercream and it went ok. I did discover you need to make the mixture quite thick, ie: heavy on the luster dust!
