My mom requested a champagne cake (hold the cake, LOL!) for her birthday this weekend.

And tried and true recipes you'd be willing to share? I saw a few on the recipe page but I'd love one that is a "sure-fire" recipe.

For the BC, I was thinking of just subbing champagne for the liquid in my normal recipe. Do you think that would work?

Yes for the icing that will work. I have only made a champagne cake with box cake mix before. You just take a vanilla cake mix or white cake mix and instead of adding water add champagne. It works great everytime. I usually make a strawberry filling to go with it. Strawberries and champagne!
