I am making a cake and have been asked to put a small bouquet of live roses on top of the cake. I'm not quite sure how to go about doing this. It seems that if I put the stems in the floral vials and then insert them into the cake it will ruin it and decrease my servings. Any suggestions on how to go about doing this?

Thanks!

Jules

I have a wedding cake on the 18th with a real rose bouquet topper. I've heard that you can put a cake board on the top tier, then put a piece of craft styrofoam on it. Then you just put the stems through the styrofoam, and your cake is not affected. Plus, the flowers should hang over, so nobody will ever see it!

What I do is go to my florist and have them make the arrangement for me and all you have to do is wrap some clear wrap around the base and it is ready to go on the cake.
