I am going to ICES in Chicago. I so excited I just can't hide it!

I am signing up for Cake Camp in September in Las Vegas. They have a great line up of teachers. Has any cc members registered yet?

What classes are you taking?

I still have to sign up-trying to get my computer to work. I probably will take classes with the instructors providing the supplies.

If you are flying from NY to Las Vegas how did you carry your stuff home. Also did you have problems going through security. I guess it is easier to check in..

I prefer carry on so I will only sign up for classes that I don't have bring tons of supplies or teachers provide

I'm going! I was sure hoping some fellow CC members would be there. I don't know how many classes I can afford to take, but I emailed someone yesterday and she said once you are registered you can add classes. So I'll start with what I can and hopefully add classes later if they don't fill up. I'm so excited!

i just learned about cake camp! i so want to go.
i have been reading all about it on their website and cannot quite get my head around all the great classes!

from the website it looks like you can take as many classes as you can schedule for the one cost of the registration fee, right? i don't have to pay registration AND class costs do i?

no,each classes is an extra charge. The demos look like most of the are $45 and the hands on classes range from $55 to $65 from what I have looked at. That why I'm not sure how many I'll be able to take. But I figured I'll register for what I can afford now. Registration doesn't close I think til July, maybe it was June, and add classes if I can afford it before then. The registration fee does get you a dinner to the banquet though.

Hi, yes, you have to pay the registration fee AND the price of each of the classes you want to take. If you do not stay at the hotel, you also have to pay an extra 75.00. "The rooms run 119 per night, for single or double occupant.
I am going, not sure what I will take yet, got to come up with more moolah!! must sell more cake!! LOL.

I would SO love to go, so I may start campaigning for a roommate. I will have to fly in, so I'm looking at the classes that (1) don't require a tub load (uncensored verious - butt load!) of supplies and (2) won't have a second tub load that I have to take home with me. icon_cry.gif

I think I would have to sign up for Nick Lodge's classes. I took Tropical Flowers in Austin and he is simply amazing. I've done the baby class (Sunday) already, but a Day of Roses and Bridal Flowers are at the top of my list.

I myself just found out about this and I am still debating if I should go. I really want to but was not at all saving up for this. I'm not sure If I want to pay an additional $75 just cause I'm not reserving a room. I literally live maybe 20 mins away from that Casino..not sure what i'm doing.

If I do go (and I so want to, so I'm 80% sure at this point) I will most definitely be needing a roommate. There is no way I'm paying $110/night

Jer702, if you live in vegas, all you have to do is bring in an i.d. to verify that and you will not have to pay the extra $75. I know what you mean, my brother lives in vegas and I was not planning on getting a room. Really have thought about just getting a nevada i.d. using his address.

Ladies,
I just booked my room at the Riveria using Expedia. They are running a special that for Thurs, Fri, & Sat the average is only $43/night. I am getting all three nights for $147.00 I have the pay the $75 classroom fee (hotel enforced not CCC) but combined I am still only paying $222 instead of $330.
I would much rather spend the $$$ on supplies.

That is good to know about Expedia. I was thinking that the $75 charge would kick in, but that is still a great deal. Someone posted about booking through Vegas.com and I looked on Hotels.com. The prices are right in line with what you paid. I may reserve one through Hotels.com so that I can cancel if something happens and I can't come up with the airfare $$.

Thanks for posting, bakery_chick.

I am staying at a friend's house in Henderson. She works on the strip. She said the price for the Riveria is too expensive!

When my friend and her hubby visits me in NY she stays for free

If you have relatives that live in LV see if you can stay with them. That is why I am signing up for classes that do not require me to bring supplies

I am also going. I am taking Wedding Cakes with Colette on Friday and Bridal flowers with Nick Lodge and Airbrush with Ron Winbekler on Saturday. I also didn't book the $119 room and got a very cheap rate on a room at the Riviera and with the $75 room fee added I am still saving $150. More money to spend on cake stuff....woohoo.

I'm still hoping to go, but I want to take Nicholas Lodge's Roses and Bridal Flowers, Collette's Fantasy Flowers and Keith Ryder's Painting Gumpaste. I will be flying and I have to wait and see if I can get all of Nic's flowers home in a carry on. Too much gumpaste, I'm afraid, but .... icon_smile.gif

when I was signing up I went straight to registering, but if you look at the class list first it not only tells you witch classes are full, they're in red, but if you click on the class it tells you how many spaces are left. You can register and sign up for the ones almost full first and later add classes. I first signed up for the classes I really wanted, and was going to add some later, when I could afford it, but when I looked I should have done them by which ones were almost full. I went back and added one that only had 2 spaces left so I wouldn't miss it. I also didn't book the room, my brother lives in Vegas so I'll be staying there.
