Anyone have another technique for grating other than using a cheese grater. I need to grate some carrots for a carrot cake and I don't have a grater (I know, sad right), and it's too late to make it to the store where I live, so any suggestions??? Thanks for any help.

Do you have a food processor? I do mine in one of those.

Just made a carrot cake yesterday and I always use my shredding disc on the food processor. I finely hand-chop the carrots afterward, too. I think without a food processor the only other option I can think of is a mandolin with a shredding plate in it.

Good luck and watch your knuckles!

How about just shredding it one piece at a time with a peeler? You could probably get it going pretty quickly. Or do you have a zester?

I use my julienne peeler for small batches. I guess it could work for larger batches as well- just take longer!
