I am making the 3D Thomas cake next week, and the directions say to attach the fondant face that has been dried on a stick with piping gel. My question is I don't have any and I really have no use for it, so what else could I attach the face with. I thought maybe buttercream or melted chocolate. Any suggestions?

Buttercream will work just fine.

or any jam you have, just brush it on.
