How would I go about making a turtle cake with the shell raised up off the layer underneath?

Do the shell out of chocolate then toothpicks or skewers?

I love turtles, please post pictures!

I wanted it something like this. See how it looks like the bottom doesn't touch? How would I make that stable?

i think i would go for pipes as legs, and a cake board under the cake to hold it. i dont know how stable that would be if you move it though... so: or maybe use solid wooden rod with a nail through the bottom of the 'foot'?
