Hi everyone,
I'm fairly new to cake decorating, and I need some advice. I'm doing a UFC (Ultimate Fighting) themed cake for the boyfriend of a friend of mine. Basically, I am making an octagon shaped cake, to mimic the shape of the fighting ring, but my dilemma is that I need to make a "cage" around the edges. I am wondering how the heck to make a cage, and if you guys have any ideas, that would be wonderful! Thank you!!!
I'm not sure how soon you need it but unbreakable gel would produce an awesome cage effect...pipe out cage-type design...allow to dry overnight(at least),possibly do this in 8 separate pieces, then attach them to royal icing iced uncooked spaghetti 'posts'.
It can be piped with royal icing...it would be a bit fragile
oops...I forgot to attach a link (to help you visualize the effect...kinda sorta) of the unbreakable gel

Thank you so much! I've never heard of this unbreakable gel stuff, but it looks amazing! Do you happen to know where I can buy it? I'm in Canada, so this may be a bit more difficult...
