Hi everyone,

I am making a last minute cake for hubby which has a ball pan (full size) baseball on top of the cake. Does anybody have an idea of the best way I can cover it with fondant so that it will be smooth and not bunchy? I have never tried to cover a round cake with anything! I am nervous about messing up the fondant because when I get flustered, things go downhill real quick! I just want to be armed with the best tips so I know what to look out for.

Thanks so much everybody!

I don't really think it's super hard. I roll it a tad thicker than normal so it won't tear, and smooth it as I go down. The very bottom is a little bunched, but you can't see it if it's on the cake anyway. I've covered regular and mini balls, and they were easier than I thought they'd be.
