MawMaw's Marvelous Lemon Pound Cake:
Cake:
2 sticks butter - room temp 3 cups plain flour
3 cups sugar 1/2 tsp. baking powder
5 eggs 1 cup milk
2 Tbsp. pure lemon extract
Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
2 Tbsp. milk

For the cake: Cream the butter and sugar beating very well. Add eggs 1 at a time and beat some more.
Add lemon extract.
Combine flour and baking powder in a bowl. Add flour mixture and milk alternately to butter/sugar mixture. Mix well but don't overmix.
Pour batter into a greased and floured tube pan.
Bake in preheated 325 degree oven for 1 1/2 hours.
For glaze: Combine the powdered sugar lemon juice and milk. Wisk together till smooth as possible. I use a cake tester to poke holes in the hot cake and pour the glaze over it.

Forgot to add: this is my family's favorite. They would rather have this instead of a decorated birthday cake. I like it because it is so easy to make. Hope you like it.
