Ok i am wanting to make a gumpaste tiara to set on top of a childs birthday cake but not really sure how to go about making it.
there is a tutorial here for how to make a tiara, but it's out of royal icing...so I don't know if that will help you. i would think you could use the same sort of template , if you had a clay extruder or some other type of thing for making the gumpaste into thin ropes, and just follow the template...but i don't know as i've never done it.
i have done a royal icing tiara and it broke on me so i made one out of melting chocolate at the last minute and it wasn't that nice.

Sorry, I had no idea you asked a question on this thread...I didn't receive any email notifications.
I got my extruder on-line, but I think they sell the very same one at Michael's craft stores or Hobby Lobby, in the clay section, not cake decorating section. This is what it looks like: http://www.theclaystore.com/pages-popup_image-pID-745/index.html
If you do have a Michaels nearby, here's a 50% off coupon, good until tomorrow: http://sdm3.rm04.net/servlet/MailView?ms=MjM5NjY1NQS2&r=MTU4NzA1MTI5OTIS1&j=Njc2MDQ4MjQS1&mt=1&rt=0
By the way...I posted the above on Sun. 2/15, as is this, even though it states Monday 2/16 at the top. I've noticed that discrepency before.
I wonder why that happens?
Thanks alot i was planning on going shopping for one tomorrow so now i can go to michaels and use the coupon on that. Thanks
