I am assuming I cut a shape with the same cutter and all, but do I do that after I have covered the cake? I would assume the holes would stretch out if I cut first. How bout doing one over the edge? The finished result always looks so nice, I would like to try it sometime.

I've found the best results to be cutting while on the cake to eliminate the stretching problem.
