Will Wilton Colored Fondant Fade?
Decorating By fat-sissy Updated 31 Dec 2008 , 10:36pm by fat-sissy
I'm doing a cake for Saturday w/fondant accents and bow. In the past I've just used MMF and colored it myself, but to save time (since it's only for accents) I bought the precolored fondant that Wilton makes. I've never used it before. I made loops and curlicues today. My question is will it fade? Or will the colors stay vivid? I don't want them to fade. Thanks for the input.
PS- I tried searching for old posts, but didn't find this specifically addressed. I've had fading in the past w/MMF and want to avoid it.
It will fade over time if left in the sun, had it happen on display cakes, but for a cake thats going out on saturday i would say you should be okay, i still would keep it out of the direct sunlight.
BTW: i have fondant figures that were made with this fondant last year and they still look great, of course they are not sitting in the direct sunlight.
