I Nedd Ideas For A Excavator Cake

My good friend asked me to make her son's 2 b-day cake. He LOVES excavators, or as he calls them, "diggies". I can figure out how to do the base, But i need some ideas on how to make the arm/boom. My bet would be not to make that part out of cake. I am also going to have to transport the fully decorated cake a few miles away. Any suggestions would be of great help.

I would make the arm/boom out of rice krispie treat. HTH.
