ive never tried to make a "cupcake" cake before. I'm assuming that you just place the cupcakes together tightly and then ice over them with buttercream? is it that simple or is there a trick to it? im planing on placing a fbct over them after ive iced them!

Yeah, you just want a thicker icing when you do it.

use the big flat icer tip that helps a ton with cupcake cakes, because if you try to ice them all together with a spatula sometimes you pull up crumbs and it's a nightmare! But with the icer tip you're just laying a ribbon down over the whole thing then you can smooth easily with an offset spatula!

Hi,
It also helps to "glue" the cupcakes down to the cake board with a dab of buttercream under each one before frosting the top. This helps prevent them from moving or sliding off the board.
