I am a beginner at cake decorating but a friend and my decided to do a sports car for her hunband b-day this weekend. It was our first time using Satin Ice fondant (black) as soon as we put it on the cake it, we noticed that the fondant was cracking all over. The next morning some of the cracks were deeper and longer.

We really do not know what caused this and we were curious to know if this happened to anyone else and what is the solution

THank you

It's too dry out. We all have our heat on or live in areas of the country with no moisture in the air right now. I fully expect to lok in the mirror and see that my eyes have turned to raisins.

Try adding in a touch of shortening when you are kneading the fondant.

And roll it out on your counter greased with a little veg shortening.
