For a family birthday yesterday, I made WASC and added a tube of almond paste to the batter. I filled the layers with a cannoli filling, and covered the cake with WBH buttercream. I topped it off with chocolate ganache. Delicious!!
I also made Darned Good Chocolate Cake, eliminated the chocolate chips, filled the layers and covered the cake in WBH chocolate buttercream, and topped that off with ganache. Even more delicious!
The chocolate cake was breakfast this morning, and I'm guessing the cannoli cake will be lunch.
If I make either of these again, I will make less of the frostings and filling. I have bowls full of the stuff leftover, which is a dangerous thing because I can eat it with a spoon.
