I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota and I just found out that my baking shop is going out of business!! They also had a catalog so maybe some of you are familiar with it.....Sweet Celebrations. I went today and all the stuff was 50% off and got some good deals but I am still so sad! There really isn't another place to go that I know of. I will have to get all my stuff either online and pay shipping or head to Michaels and get Wilton (not my first choice). I really am soooo disappointed. I never would have guessed that it would bumm me out so much. Where are your favorite places to shop? I am a flight attendant and can try to hit other stores in other states but need to know which ones are the best! Thanks! icon_cry.gif

If you ever have a layover in Indianapolis, Ms. B's Sweet Supplies is just up the road from the airport. PM me for directions, but it's probably less than a 20 minute drive, once you're on I-465. She has a 2-room shop and she has absolutely everything! I believe she will ship an order, too.

Thanks for the heads up... I will definitely keep in mind. I have a lot of layovers in IND. Next time I have enough time I will check it out. Some of our supplies you just need to see instead of trying to figure out colors on a computer screen. Is your shop close to this store? I see your postings all the time and would love to see it!

If you view I-465 as a big clock, the airport is at about 8:00 ..... Ms. B's is at about 9:00 .... and I'm 10 minutes outside of 3:00 (about 30-40 mins from the airport).

But if you're ever in for a good length of time, let me know and I'll run over and we can meet for lunch or I'll give ya the personal escort to Ms. B's!

That is really sweet. I work for Northwest and they have been flying more and more out of IND since ATA went away. I really appreciate the offer! I will try to get to see both stores. I don't have anything on the calendar for November but things could change! Thanks again Deb! This is such a great website, with such a great following of talented people. I am so glad that I came across it! I have learned so much from everybody! Any more suggestions of wonderful cake supply shops across the country?

nashville has an awesome one, across from opyland hotel and only minutes away from the airport..."sweetwise" (i think the owner, kathy, is on cc). she carries a really great variety for many different interests, like chocolate, cookies, cakes, pans, dusts, etc.

Any layovers in DTW? We have three about 1 1/2 hrs away from airport. If in town PM me, and I'll give directions.

There are three that are within that time frame from the airport. There may be some closer I just don't know of them. There is Hienrich's in Centerline, Sarah's in Troy, Miles's in Clinton township. Those are the links for Mile's, and Sarah's all three are priced about the same. Some items are lower in one place some higher in the other. Let me know how I can help if your coming this way.

IndyDeb. I live near Indy and I've never heard of Ms. B's. It's a trek, but I will have to get over there and check it out. Thanks!

icon_biggrin.gif Have no fear!!! There is ANOTHER cake shop here!!!!!! icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

I'm in WBY and there is a cake shop up in Fridley.... Lynn's Cake & Candy Supplies... Basically 694 to University, go North about 2-3 miles (tops), it's in the strip mall just before you get to Key's Cafe' ... There are some things that Lynn has that Sweet C didn't (she sells Rich's Bettercreme) and visa versa. Lynn is also great on ordering stuff in for you if you need something specific. OTOH, she prefers cash or credit cards, so just be prepared before you go that you won't be using a check.

So, just letting you know, you aren't out of luck on cake supplies up here in the cities!!!! thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif

As far as I'm concerned, she is the ONLY place to get cake supplies here! 465 and Crawfordsville Road ... behind the Hardees!

I remembered you talking about Ms. B's, Debi, so when my grandmother wanted to get good chocolate for candy making this fall, my mom, myself, she and my other grandmother made the road trip from Lafayette (they came down from Gary). She spent her entire budget there, lol! It was definitely worth the trip.
