I'm doing a quick soccer ball cake for my son's school carnival. I used the Wilton Soccer Ball pan, which makes 1/2 a ball. I'm only using that half, not making it 3D totally round.

So, my question is - should I put filling in it? It's not really that tall and will be frosted with buttercream. #1 - it will take more time; #2 - most of all, I'm afraid it will distort the shape.

Any opinions? TIA!!!

I wouldn't, but then again I never do. It probably wouldn't distort your shape more than what bc would cover if you wanted to fill it.

I never fill my ball pans. They are too tricky and I don't want a seam. I usually don't tort or full any character pans or 3 D type cakes.
