I need a good recipe for chocolate buttercream with a dark chocolate color. All of the ones I have tried turn out to be a tan-ish brown color or way too sweet. I appreciate your help.

1 cup shortening, 1 lb powdered sugar, 2tbs, 2 tsp water, 1 tsp almond extract, 1/2 cup cocoa powder. when i did this, it looks tan at first, but after the cake is iced and the icing sets, the color is a nice dark brown. This recipe is for a thick consistency... you can thin it out from here.
i hope this helps

Use dark chocolate ganache , I know it's not buttercream but it tastes way better. Cool it to room temp and ice the cake like you normally would. Or you could just add some color to your buttercream.
