This may sound like a dumb question but can you make the crusting buttercream lemon flavored? I was thinking like heating up the lemon juice to replace the hot water in the recipe and adding half lemon flavor and half vanilla in the flavoring part of the recipe. Has anyone tried this. I am not sure if the lemon juice will have any effect on the icing texture. TIA
By the way I am using the faux fondant crusting buttercream II recipe.
I just made some basic BC and added lemon extract. I didn't really like it. I saw a recipe for lemon cream cheese frosting and it sounded much better. I'll try that next time I need lemon frosting.
