Family Fun Ingredient Question

Probably a silly question, but i just want to be sure. I have a request this weekend for a Family Fun cake asking to sprinkle white sugar on the top, should I assume this is confectioners sugar, or granulated? Picture and recipe below. As always, thanks for helping!
Directions: With a toothpick, mark a rectangle, a large circle, and a smaller circle on the cake as shown. We used a bowl, a glass, and a small loaf pan as guides. Next, snip a corner from the bag of frosting and pipe outlines over the toothpick grooves. Spoon the white sugar evenly inside the outer circle

I think they are saying regular table sugar.

I was worried table sugar may melt the frosting somehow? I could be just over analyzing...
