I am looking for a cake decorator and/or bakery owner who would like to mentor me. I am interested in learning more than what my local community college pastry/confection course is offering me. I would like to get the behind the scenes experience. I live in San Jose and am able to travel to East Bay and San Francisco Area.

Deecie - I don't know where you are in the Bay Area, but Toot Sweet in Lafayette was looking for two part-time people to share a part-time position for working the bakery and assisting the bakers. You could do a google search for bakeries all over the Bay and show up to a few and ask them (I wouldn't call, I don't think you'd get as good a result). But the Toot Sweet one would give you experience and some $ too! Best of luck, keep us posted!
