Decorating By calebsmom45 Updated 26 Jul 2008 , 4:25am by calebsmom45
Can I use margarine instead?? or butter or anything!! I have the ingredients in the bowl! Thanks!
I don't know the answer to your question, but I'm sure some of these wise cakers do.
I recall reading here that kakeladi developed the "Original WASC" which had NO oil at all added. I've been searching, trying to find that recipe, but I'm having trouble locating it. Maybe someone else knows?
Sorry I'm not much help.
Found it! Her recipe is on this thread:

Also, her version is supposed to be really, really good, too.
You can use butter or margarine, melted. Or you can leave it out entirely - it's just fine! Especially if you use milk or creamer in place of all or part of the water. Adding a pkg of pudding adds moistness, but it is so moist as it I don't think you need to bother!
Funny you posted this. I just made a Lemon Almond Sour Cream cake without the darn oil. I could kick myself. Now I have to run to the store for more sour cream.
Thanks, I just left it out like some of you said and it came out delicious! I made cupcakes and iced them with smbc which I made for the first time ever! So good and so easy to clean up compared to my regular shortening based icing. Thanks for the help, at least I know what to do next time because I always seem to be out of oil! It is a curse!
