If I wanted to make strawberry buttercream I know I can make it with marmalade/jelly.

I was wondering if I can mix in some jello flavoring instead and if so has anyone had any experience with this?

Thanks!

I've heard about using Kool-Aid for color and flavor but, never jello.

Would jello affect the consistency of the icing?

Well i tried it out today. I made chocolate cupcakes with raspberry buttercream frosting. I mixed about half the can of BC with about 1 tsp of the raspberry jello and it tasted awful!I tried to fix it by adding some strawberry jam but the jello flavor was too much.

I decided to swirl the CC anyway to at least take pictures and 5 minutes later it had melted all the way. So I ended up just frosting it with a spoon.

I find the best flavor comes from flavorings. Just a few drops, then you can either color it or leave it white with the surprise flavor.

Now for fillings I often mix jams with buttercream. This mixture is not thick enough for a frosting but is perfect as a filling.
