I am planning a wedding cake 6 tiers high the first 5 tiers are going to be cupcakes and the top 6th tier will be the 6 in. I want to make the icing on the cupcakes about 1 1/2 inches high and make it look like icecream swirled on top. I tried it with tip 12 but I was having trouble making it thick enough to build in the center. I was thinking maybe I need a different tip? I am not really sure. I would love any suggestions anybody can offer. I appreciate it.
Thank you,

I think your main problem is that tip #12 is too small - you need something bigger like a 1A.

That is what I used for these:

I agree with awolf. A bigger tip will make it a cinch.
