How far in advance can you make and decorate sugar cookies and they still taste good?

Thanks,
Trance

You can freeze them if you need to (before decorating) but I usually do two to three days inadvance (I have seen someone say four)

I use the Never Fail Sugar cookie recipe. You can cut the dough and freeze it or you can bake the cookies and freeze them baked. You can decorate at least a week ahead. These things hold up well. Don't under-bake them. They taste better to me when the have a little brown on them.

I have baked them a few weeks in advance, then frozen them.

My 5 yr old DD just won first place in our county fair for these cookies, decorated in MMF!
