hi. i am making a bassinet cake for a baby shower i am going to on saturday. i have gotten many ideas from all i have seen here on CC. my question is will the rounded top of the bassinet sit on the base cake without falling over? do i need to have a dowel going through the rounded top into the rectangle base? i planned on putting dowel supports in the base where the rounded top will be sitting. if anyone can give me better or clearer instructions or can steer me to a tutorial on making a bassinet cake i would be grateful. thank you for your help. icon_smile.gificon_smile.gif

When I made mine I put dowels from the top of the half round cakes all the way to the bottom of the rectangle ones. I used 3. I also drove through town with it fully assembled and it held up fine. Just make sure you cut your dowels a bit shorther than the height of the cake.
