I would like to know how to paint artwork on a cake. I have the wilton icing color. do I add water? will that make it bleed on the cake ? I have seen some wonderful cakes on here just trying to learn. It may sound like a stupid question but I had to ask, I so want to learn...... icon_redface.gif

When you say on the cake, do you mean on fondant or gumpaste? If so you can use the wilton colors and dilute them with vodka or clear lemon extract and paint with that. I have done that before and it really is quite easy. You have to wait for the fondant to dry first though. I don't know much about buttercream artwork. I have also heard of painting with colored cocoa butter but haven't tried it.
