Need Help With Fondant

Ok, I haven't worked with fondant very much at all but I need to cover wooden dowel rods with fondant and i cant seem to get good results on how they look,urrr icon_mad.gif !!! So if someone could please give me any tips on how to do this it would be greatly appricated!! Thanks

That can be hard to do, I'm anxious to see if anyone has any good suggestions for you. I once wrapped fondant around plastic dowels and the only way I could get it to work was to make a long strip and wrap it around and around, then smooth it down. I brushed at at the seams with a very small amount of water, to get it to stick. Here's the cake I made with this technique: http://cakespace.blogspot.com/search/label/Curious%20George
Notice the tree... it actually made for a nice effect, but wasn't what I was originally going for.

WOW what an amazing cake I love it!!! I'm trying to make a wrestling ring cake and I thought i would use the dowel rods wrapped in fondant as the posts.
