When making a cake I'm never sure whether to use two 2 inch pans, or one 3 inch pan. If making a 3 tier wedding cake, would most of you use two, 2 inch pans for each tier, or one 3 inch pan? I tend to use two pans and fill in between cakes, rather than tort the cake and fill that way. However, I'm not sure if it's more "standard" to tort a 3 inch cake instead.

Thoughts?

Katie

I think both are fine to use. Depends on what you prefer. I would probably pick one and do it over the other though. You might confuse people asking if they want a 3in or 4in tall cake.

I use both in different circumstances... If the customer wants a taller looking cake I will use the 3 inch pans.

I also use both depending on what the customer wants and the look I am going for
