Help Making A Stacked Book Cake---

Okay, I've got to make a "stack of books" cake for a graduation this week. How do you guys do these? Surely there has to be cake boards under each "book", but I don't see them in any of the gallery pics. Do you have the cake on the board & then wrap the fondant around both?

I know...dumb questions, but I've learned so much from all you CC'rs. I'm sure someone's got simple answers for me.
