I am making a Magic themed cake for my friends birthday party, and I want to place an edible "crystal" ball as the topper on the cake. I guessed that some sort of sugar art would do the trick, but have no idea how to go about it. Please, can anyone make any suggestions??

Not a cake topper, but this might help... Debbie Browns Magical Cakes book has a cake that is a crystal ball with a wizard standing next to it. It's a large ball cake covered in blue/purple swirled fondant with stars and glitter stuck to it.
