Hey all. So the other day this lady asked me for a basketball themed cake for her sons 16th birthday. So I came up with a cute idea, but I heard from her today and he wants a Halo 3 (video game on XBOX) cake. I have no idea what the game is and she sent me a pic...when I looked at it I wanted to cry icon_cry.gif what the heck am I going to do with that. Soooooo...any ideas would be killer. Or should I ask her if he has a second choice? Thanks!

heres the link to the picture:

I saw one on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uJCLsALVno&feature=related They just did the logo, which I think would be do-able. Another option would be to stick some action figures from the game on the cake...but at 16 the boy might be a little old for that.

Well...would you consider a photo-to-sketch b/c transfer:

Here's a free program:

How about making a cake with some of the elements or scenery from the game on the sides and a fondant/gumpaste figure on top? At least the figure is edible and not a toy. (You were worried about a 16 yr old being offended by a toy...)

I thought about doing that knel...except I know nothing about the game. I don't have kids and don't have an XBOX. Does anyone know anything about the game.

Thanks for the you tube cake Texas Rose, I'll shoot that video to her and see if she likes it

JanH...I can't thank you enough for letting me know about that program, if I don't use it on this cake I know I will use it in the future

I know somebody's got to have some more ideas! I really appreciate the help!

I don't know if you have thought of doing or have done them but I was thinking maybe you could try carving a cake to look like the xbox unit with maybe a controller and a small cake with an edible transfer of the game itself next to it? Or perhaps one or the other of these options depending on how much work you want to put into it and how big a cake they need, plus how much they are willing to pay. I've personally not carved a cake so I don't know how much work is involved but I have seen some really neat pics of the xbox done. I think there are some on this site as well!

Good Luck!

I second xstitcher's idea. The new xBox 360 is a simple looking console, not much detail at all (and it's white, so no colored fondant/bc!). If I can do it, anyone can! icon_biggrin.gif Doing that, with the "game" next to it, or on top would be so much easier and he'd think it was just as cool. I made my xBox cake for my friend and he's 22!
