I was wondering if anyone knew a way I could make a cupcake shaped cake without having to buy one of those fancy $30 baking pans. I would stack regular circled cakes on top of each other but I'm trying to get the same zig zag pattern a cupcake has along the outside. Any ideas or tips? Thanks.

Maybe you could try baking in mixing bowls. Probably you'd have to comb the frosting on the sides with something to create zig zags in the frosting rather than the cake.

If you like to work with fondant you could try that. It would look pretty cool!
