I know that I can have a cake business out of my home, thanks to the post on what states allow home bakeries. But I'm just wondering what do you have to do in order to be allowed to do this. My mom and one of my friends keep trying to get me to make up flyers and put them out. But I'm afraid that Ic ould get into trouble if I don't go by protocol. And as I tell them, I don't really feel like paying a big fine that I can't afford or whatever the penalty would be! lol Thanks in advance!

Look up the department of agriculture and give them a call. They do the inspections in virginia. You'll have to register your business name and apply for a tax id number for sales tax. The dept. of agr. can probably tell you what you have to do to get started.
