Help! I need to know how can I mak a box cake more firm? I'm making a wedding cake that is three tiers and it will be covered with fondant. know that tiered caked need to be more firm for support. Please if anyone know what to add to a box mix, I would love to know, thanks!!

Well, I subsitute the oil called for with Helman's mayo... it makes it a little more dense than usual, and really moist.....

Yes, I would add an egg also. You could also add a half a package of pudding to each box mix. that would help it as well.

Are you concerned the cake isn't going to hold up well under the fondant? when you have a stacked/tiered cake the weight should be distributed by the amount of supports you'll have. Just wanted to check!

You might want to try the White Almond Sour Cream or WASC cake as we lovingly call it on this site.

I use the Duncan Hines pound cake recipe for all of my cakes. I find that it works especially well with the Wilton 3D pans like the bear and duck.

1 pkg Duncan Hines® Moist Deluxe® Classic Yellow Cake Mix (or any other DH Mix)
1 (3.4 oz) pkg vanilla instant pudding and pie filling (or any other instant pudding flavor that compliments the flavor of the cake mix used)
4 large eggs
1 cup water
1/3 cup vegetable oil

I've never been let down by this recipe.

I use this , it is thick like brownie mix so you have to spread it in the pan. It tastes good and holds up.

1 box cake mix
1/2 c sour cream
2 eggs
1/4 c sugar
8 oz cream cheese

I usually use this for my white cakes
