To all doll cake makers, for those of you who use fondant as the doll's dress, how do you make the dress look like it's pleated, also i would like to know would you recommend the doll's top to be fondant or buttercream? If any one has any great pictures of doll cake ideas , please post them after your response. THANKS!

I do the pleats with tapered rolls of fondant underneath the skirt. I always do fondant tops -- they're way easier for me. You can see a pic of the bridal shower cake I did for my daughter here: http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=299873

I too do tapered rolls of fondant. As for the top, a stiff bc works good, but again fondant just works easier for me. Here is the 1 I did for DD's 6th birthday. http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=774173

Good Luck
