I have a tresure chest cake this Sat. I am unable to figure out the top(lid). Want it to be open, think cake would be to heavy. The customer gave me a picture she had. The top was a foil covered cake board. Seen a cupcake that was a treasure chest and the top was a Chocolate roll-out cookie however not sure how will a cookie would be in a 9x13 size.

Thanks for all your ideas.

For a 9x13 I would use the foil-covered cardboard and cover that with icing to match the rest of the chest. Prop it up on the cake with wood skewers or dowels so it looks like the lid is open.

Becka,
I made one a few weeks ago. For the lid I use styrofoam. It was like an inch thick, used the bread knife to cut and fit the cake. What I like about it is that it takes buttercream really well, it is light, and it is easy to prop it open using lollipop sticks. Hope this helps!!!!
