I have looked many times at all of the shoe cakes and was wondering how do you make one. How do you stack the cake or how is it placed. Any info thanks.

Hi, I made one a couple of weeks ago (in my photos), and I stacked cakes to just a bit bigger than I needed, and then carved it, keeping a real boot next to it all the time for comparison. To cover it, I took rough patterns from a real boot, cut them from rolled fondant icing, and then 'built' the layers, ie tongue first, then sides and toe-cap, etc.
I didn't find it too difficult, but I think you really need to get the shape and proportions right to begin with, or you will never get it to look right!! icon_smile.gif
